ASTD 2013 State of the Industry Report & Best Practice Sharing

Based on Laurie Miller, Director of Research Services at ASTD, and David Frankel, Research Specialist, benchmarking data from ASTD BEST Awards Winners, Fortune magazine's list of Global 500 (G500) companies, and other organizations from 2004 to present. 

The GVASTD Professional Development Committee will:

  • Present a summary of the ASTD 2013 State of the Industry report
  • Highlight learning and development trends
  • Facilitate a discussion on local applications and best practices
ASTD estimates that U.S. organizations spent $1,195 per employee on learning and development in 2012. The content for this program is drawn from ASTD's 2013 State of the Industry report, which is sponsored by Skillsoft and CARA.

Facilitators:

Michelle Lewis, Staff Development Coordinator, University of Rochester Facilities & Services Staff.  Responsibilities include coordinating, developing and delivering training. She is certified DISC & Crucial Conversation facilitator.  Michelle earned her BA in Creative Writing ad MS in Secondary English Education.  She taught high school English before moving into corporat technical and soft skills training at Sutherland Global Services and ADT Sercurity Services.

Rosemary Jonientz, works as a trainer and organizational development facilitator throughout the continental United States.  She has designed and facilitated change management programs targeting all levels of employees.  She holds a M.S. in Adult Education from Elmira College, certificate in organizational change from ASTD and is accredited with an Advanced Train-the-Trainer Certificate from Elmira College.  Rosemary was recognized for her work in change management most recently for having the greatest year over year sales increase for single manufacturer automotive dealerships in the NYS/Northern PA area.

Bob Peter, VP of Professional Development GVASTD, President - Insights2Improvement, Inc.  Bob is direct results oriented coach, team facilitator and trainer with over twenty years of learning and development experience.  Bob works across industries and levels within organizations to improve results through people and relationships.  He is a certified provider/reseller of a variety of talent assessment tools and resources enabling clients to leverage his expertise to select the best solutions.  Bob is known as the DISCoach.  He has provided train-the-trainer certification programs for DISC users for over 15 years. Bob is described as an engaging, energetic and "rubber hits the road" facilitator and trainer.  He is an active member of GVASTD and GVSHRM as well as a youth football coach.
